One of our clients was a recently retired CEO of a global player in buildings materials. He had decided to ease off and go into consultancy. He was widely respected for his business accumen and wasn’t short of work.
One day, one of his regular clients asked him to meet an important supplier on a Wednesday. “John, you know I never work on Wednesdays…” – “But they’re flying in from the US and they want to see you then. Do you have another meeting?”
“No John. I wash the cars with my grandson on Wednesdays. I didn’t make time to do it with my sons when they were little, I won’t miss this time around.”
The Americans saw him on a Thursday.
